How Breaking Ground Began

Breaking Ground began with a simple idea: creating space for the kind of connection many of us are looking for in our industry.

Throughout my career in art consulting, I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with incredibly talented professionals across the design and development community. It’s an industry filled with thoughtful, creative, and driven individuals.

Yet like many professionals, I often found myself wishing there were more opportunities for meaningful connection — conversations that went beyond quick introductions or traditional networking.

As someone who naturally gravitates toward deeper dialogue and understanding people’s stories, I began to imagine something different.

What if we created a gathering that felt more intentional?

I reached out to a small group of women in the industry whom I deeply respect and have built meaningful relationships with over many years. Together, we began shaping an experience that reflected what we all valued: genuine conversation, shared learning, and a supportive professional community.

From those conversations, Breaking Ground took shape.

Today, Breaking Ground brings together people across interior design, architecture, engineering, construction, real estate, and development to connect, exchange ideas, and support one another’s growth.

We believe that when thoughtful professionals come together with intention, the conversations become richer, the relationships stronger, and the possibilities for collaboration even greater.
